Welcome to Catbytes

Catbytes is a Community Interest Company based, and serving the borough of Lewisham. Our purpose is to support the local community with computer and internet related issues. Many people find the world of modern technology bewildering. We want to help them in two ways

  1. Make them more skilled at, and comfortable with, using smart phones, tablets, computers and the internet
  2. Give them a voice within the internet world. This is a two way relationship!

How do we do this?

Catbytes have run various projects designed to engage people with computers and the internet. Our current projects are:

  • Techy Tea Clubs - social environments where people can learn more about how to use their devices.
  • Virtual Aid - supporting people with getting better at using their devices over the phone.
  • Lewisham Device Library - our device library consists of donated computer equipment. These are lent out to people who are isolated or families with children that need them for homework

We also build websites for small community organisations, set up digital hubs at community centres, troubleshoot wifi problems, consult on software, and help people set up their classes on Zoom

There is a variety of ways you can volunteer with Catbytes. Please check out our opportunities page for more information.
