Catbytes have set up digital hubs in Lewisham. Digital hubs are places where people can come to
- Develop their IT skills
- Use the internet
- Hunt for jobs
- Create documents, such as CVs
- Network with others and share knowledge and understanding
Digital hubs are different to Techy Tea Clubs. The Techy Tea clubs have been aimed at retired people. They are social clubs where people can get guidance in using their devices. Digital hubs are aimed more at people who are interested in forms of professional development, such as practicing typin, or writing a CV. They are laptop or desktop PC based, and do not depend so much on input from volunteers. They give people the opportunity to practice and develop skills which they may not have the ability to practice at home. However, volunteers should usually be on hand to help people who come to the hubs when necessary.
